Cardboard Recycling at Our Temecula Center

We accept cardboard recycling at no charge. While we don't pay for cardboard, we welcome any quantity — from a single box to hundreds. If you have a large amount, please call us first at (951) 406-4978 so we know you're coming.

What Kinds of Cardboard Do We Accept?

  • Corrugated cardboard — the brown, ridged cardboard used for shipping and moving boxes.
  • Cardboard boxes from deliveries — flattened or whole.
  • Moving boxes — broken down preferred but not required.
  • Appliance and electronics packaging — remove plastic and foam first.
  • Pizza boxes — only if they're clean. Heavily greasy boxes contaminate the recycling stream.

We do not accept: wax-coated cardboard, cardboard heavily contaminated with food or oil, cartons (milk, juice, soup), or heavily soiled paper tubes.

How to Prepare Cardboard for Drop-Off

  • Break down boxes — flatten them by collapsing along the seams.
  • Remove packing materials — plastic bubble wrap, foam peanuts, packing pillows.
  • Remove tape if you can — but don't stress about every label.
  • Stack and bundle — tie with twine if you have a lot.
  • Keep it dry — wet cardboard is harder to handle and can develop mold.

Why Recycle Cardboard?

  • Saves trees — reduces demand for virgin paper pulp.
  • Saves energy — manufacturing recycled cardboard uses about 25% less energy than new.
  • Reduces landfill volume — cardboard is one of the largest waste categories by volume.
  • Reduces methane emissions — cardboard breaking down in landfills releases methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

A single ton of recycled cardboard saves about 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and enough energy to power an average home for several months.

Got a Lot of Cardboard?

If you're cleaning out a garage after a move, finishing a renovation, or wrapping up an office relocation, we welcome large drop-offs. Just call us first at (951) 406-4978 so we can be ready when you arrive.
