Recycle Strong specializes in scrap metals, aluminum cans, plastic bottles, glass, cardboard, and automotive batteries. Customers occasionally ask about other items — automotive parts, major household appliances, televisions, and electronics — that fall outside our standard, everyday services. This page explains how we handle those items and where to take them if we're not the right fit.
For appliances, electronics, or anything you're unsure about, please call us at (951) 406-4978 before loading up. A short phone call saves you a trip if we can't accept the item.
Automotive Parts
Many of the parts you'd otherwise scrap from an old vehicle are recyclable as ferrous or non-ferrous metal at our recycle center. Commonly accepted automotive parts include:
- Aluminum wheels and rims
- Radiators (copper, brass, and aluminum content)
- Brake rotors and drums (cast iron)
- Bumpers, hoods, fenders, and sheet metal body panels
- Frames and subframes
- Suspension components, springs, and axles
- Exhaust pipes and tailpipes (catalytic converters excluded — see below)
- Motorcycle frames, wheels, and exhaust
- Drive shafts and other clean metal driveline parts
These are weighed at standard ferrous or non-ferrous pricing depending on the material.
Important fluid policy: Any automotive part that previously contained oil, fuel, coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, or refrigerant must be fully drained before drop-off. Parts that arrive with residual fluids cannot be accepted — no exceptions. This includes any engine, transmission, differential, fuel tank, or fluid-bearing assembly. If a part still drips, leaks, or sloshes, please do not bring it.
Catalytic converters are not accepted at Recycle Strong. Due to the ongoing catalytic converter theft crisis across California and the strict state regulations now required to legally process them, we have made the decision to refuse all catalytic converters — no exceptions, regardless of source or paperwork. See our catalytic converter policy page for details.
Major Appliances
We accept certain major appliances, but please always call before bringing one in. A quick phone call ensures we can take your item that day rather than turning you away at the gate.
When you call, please be ready to share:
- What appliance you have (refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc.)
- Whether it still contains refrigerant (refrigerators, freezers, AC units)
- Approximate size and condition
- When you plan to drop off
A few important notes:
- We do not pay for appliances. When accepted, drop-off is offered as a courtesy, not a buyback.
- Stripped or disassembled appliance components — clean metal and copper windings pulled from old appliances — are accepted as scrap metal during normal hours and weighed at standard metal pricing.
TVs and Electronics
Please call us.
If you have an unusual item and aren't sure where to take it, give us a call and we'll point you to the best local option.
We Do Accept Plastic Bottle Recycling
Empty water bottles and soda bottles are some of the most commonly recycled items we see, and they're worth more than most people realize. Our plastic bottle recycling process is simple: bring your CRV-eligible bottles in any quantity, caps on is fine, and our team handles the weigh-in at our Temecula center.
What We Take Every Day — No Call Needed
For our core materials, no appointment or phone call is required. Just come by during business hours and our team will get you weighed in and on your way:
- Aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles (CRV buyback)
- Scrap metal — ferrous and non-ferrous
- Most automotive parts (per the rules above)
- Automotive lead-acid (auto) batteries
- Cardboard
